I haven’t tried the socks on the beach yet, but used them on a jet ski and it gripped great. Also, jumping from the jet ski to the dock was easy with the grippy bottom. I did use them in an area of mud in the river and it kept the mud off of my feet. It did protect my feet from some of the sharp rocks and other mysterious items at the bottom of the river. I also agree with another reviewer that some things will stick to the grips on the bottom, but I didn’t have any trouble cleaning them…
