Lost my GoPro on first use, but this mount not directly responsible. It lasted only a little over an hour. As tough as the GoPro is, ocean waves may just be too punishing for any mount. I’m not 100% sure how it became disconnected, it was attached one minute and then suddenly it wasn’t. I was using a float attachment as a backup but it came off after about 45 minutes. I did not use the provided camera tether because the directions were not clear (this is why I only gave 4 stars). I’m still not sure how it would attach to the camera; don’t use the hard plastic…

I installed this in the nose of my daughter’s 8′ Wave Storm foam soft-top surfboard from Costco. The threaded male half of the mount was a little too long for my purpose, but was easily trimmed down to fit. The mount is rock solid and takes a fair amount of effort to get the camera in and out of; hope you have strong hands.
