FCS VS Knubster Centre Keel Set Fin X Small Red
Developed by Sean Mattison for Von Sol surfboards, the FCS VS KNUBSTER is essentially a center fin that can be added to any quad set-up. The fin will increase drive and provide directional control through turns, without sacrificing speed, flow, or the freedom of movement typically associated with a quad.
The “KNUBSTER” is designed with a single tab that allows the fin to be positioned in the forward and rear center plug to cater for the individual drive requirements of each surfer.
The FCS VS KNUBSTER, is 3 3/4″ by 2″ high. According to Kelly Slater’s report, “The KNUBSTER makes your quad set-up feel faster, smoother, and it adds a little more control. It just tightens everything it up a bit”.

But, I think it should have had double tabs.I don’t like surfing quads as most of my boards are small relative to the size of wave I surf them in. I ride a 5’1 Firewire Baked Potato, a 5’4 Firewire Potatonator, 5’4 CI Pod Mod as grovelers. When it is smaller, although these boards plane well, on occasion I need drive aka thrust to make sections. When I push on the tail of a quad, it does not squirt water and accelerate as well as a thruster. If…
I read some not-so-good reviews on this fin but decided to purchase it anyway, mainly based on the low sticker-price, and it is made by a reputable fin company (Rainbow Fins). I purchased it for use in my retro-style twin fin fish, which is not really how it is advertised (it is sold as a 5th fin in your quad-fin set-up), however it fit the bill as a very small single-plug center fin. It works really good, adding just a little tightness in smaller, mushy east-coast surf, which is exactly what…
